Time of Use Tariff

As a PrepayPower customer, you enjoy the great benefit of being in control of your electricity usage. Using your keypad, you can check your energy usage at any time of the day as well as keeping an eye on your balance and top ups.

We're reaching out because we noticed you've had your ESB meter replaced with a new meter. Don’t worry your PrepayPower meter remains the same. So, nothing changes with regard to our great service.

This new arrangement allows us to offer you the option of paying a different amount for your electricity depending on when you use it. You pay more at the most popular times (from 5pm to 7pm) and less at off peak times. This is called a Time of Use (ToU) tariff. It could save you money if you don’t want to use electricity at peak times.

To save you must move more than 18%* of your peak (5pm - 7pm) energy usage to nighttime (11pm to 8am). You need to move activities like cooking, machine washing and drying of clothes and power showers to nighttime to save. Moving less than this amount of electricity usage means that this ToU tariff will cost you more.

Keep in mind most people are significantly better off sticking with their current arrangement and paying the same amount for their electricity no matter what time of the day they use it.

Be aware however that if you decide to move to Time of Use and want to move back to your current tariff arrangement it may cost you more than it had previously. This is due to the configuration of the ESB meter which we are not permitted to change.

If you are not interested in this option, you don’t need to do anything. Simply ignore this email and your service will remain the same.
